Park Young-seok (born November 2, 1963 , † missing from Annapurna since October 18, 2011 ) was a South Korean mountaineer .

He became known as the first person to reach the Explorers Grand Slam . This means that he climbed all 14 eight-thousanders and the Seven Summits and reached both the North and South Poles . In October 2011, Park Young-seok wanted to climb Annapurna in a team of three on a new route on the south-west flank. He and his companions got caught in a snow storm and an avalanche and have been missing ever since.

Park was the eighth climber ever and the first in his home country to climb all eight-thousanders . He completed the series between May 16, 1993 and July 22, 2001, i.e. in 8 years, 2 months and 8 days. In 1997 the park climbed four eight-thousanders and in 2000 it climbed three eight-thousanders.

He reached the last of the Seven Summits on November 24, 2002. He climbed both the Carstensz pyramid and Mount Kosciuszko .

It reached the South Pole on January 14, 2004 and the North Pole on April 30, 2005. He was the first person to make this Adventure Grand Slam . After him, this has only been achieved by the Chinese Zhang Liang.
