Pascal Meier (born June 18, 1990 ) is a Swiss floorball player . He is a national player and has been with GC Zürich since summer 2015 .

Career

Pascal Meier began his career with the offspring of the Kloten-Bülach Jets . From 2007 to 2013 he played for HC Rychenberg Winterthur . First in the junior levels U18A and U21A where he was twice Swiss champion. In the 2009/2010 season he made a detour to Bülach Floorball in the NLB. Then Pascal Meier returned to the HCR and became the clear No. 1 in the Winterthurer Tor. He played a key role in eliminating series champion SV Wiler-Ersigen in the playoff 1/4 finals in the 2012/2013 season . In the summer of 2013 Pascal Meier moved to the Svenska Superligan for newly promoted Växjö Vipers IBK . He stayed there for two seasons and then moved back to Switzerland to the Grasshopper Club Zurich .

In 2015/16 he won the championship for the first time with GC Unihockey. In the 2016 Cup final, Meier had to reach behind him seven times and lost it 7: 3 to Floorball Köniz . One season later he won the cup with GC in an 8: 7 win over HC Rychenberg Winterthur .

On March 3, 2017, the Grasshopper Club Zurich announced the contract extension with the Swiss national team goalkeeper. This means that he will remain GC until the end of the 2017/18 season.

National team

Pascal Meier played in Switzerland's U19 national team from 2006 to 2009 and won the bronze medal at the 2009 World Cup in Turku. He was chosen as the best goalkeeper in the Allstar team. Pascal Meier played a total of 30 games for Switzerland at U19 level.

In 2011 Pascal Meier was called up for the first time for the senior national team and in 2012 he played his first men's world championship at the home World Cup in Switzerland. With 92.9% saved shots, he was the statistically best goalkeeper of the World Cup. So far, Pascal Meier has played 60 games with the Swiss national team (as of September 2016).
