Pascal Moraguès

Pascal Moraguès (* 1963 ) is a French clarinetist and music teacher .

Moraguès studied from 1976 at the Conservatoire de Paris , where he received first prizes in the subjects of clarinet and chamber music. In 1981 Daniel Barenboim brought him to the Orchester de Paris as principal clarinetist . He has appeared as a soloist under conductors such as Serge Baudo , Semyon Bychkov , Carlo Maria Giulini , Pierre Boulez and Emmanuel Krivine and as a chamber musician with various string quartets and musicians such as Swjatoslaw Richter , Elisabeth Leonskaja , Christian Zacharias , Christian Ivaldi , Georges Pludemacher , Jean-Claude Pennetier , Viktoria Mullova , Shlomo Mintz and Gary Hoffman . Moragues has been teaching at the Conservatoire de Paris since 1995. He also gave master classes in Japan, the USA, Australia and all over Europe.

1980 founded Moraguès with winners of the Conservatoire de Paris, the Quintette Moraguès that occurred in France, Japan, Germany, the US, Switzerland, the Netherlands and several Eastern European countries with great success and was since its inception more than 350 concerts. His musical partners included Christian Zacharias , Jean-Claude Pennetier , Michel Dalberto , Alain Planès and Pascal Rogé . In 1992 the quintet went on a concert tour through France with Svyatoslaw Richter. The ensemble recorded works by composers of the 20th century and received the Grand Prix de la Nouvelle Académie du Disque for a Mozart album .
