Paschal Onyedika Okoli (born October 17, 1997 ) is a Nigerian football player on the position of midfielder . In 2017 he made his debut for the professional team of Bursaspor in the Süper Lig .

Career

Paschal Okoli began his career as a football player in his native Nigeria. In this he last played at the Collins Edward Academy with the associated Collins Edward Sports Club in the capital Lagos . After people in charge of the Turkish first division club Bursaspor had seen him play on the sandy pitch of the Lagos National Stadium , they invited the then 19-year-old Nigerian to a trial training session. After he was able to convince, he was awarded a professional contract on February 10, 2017. For the remainder of the 2016/17 season, he was a member of the club's own offspring and played a number of games for the Turkish club's U-21 team.

Under coach Paul Le Guen , he made the leap into the professional squad at the beginning of the 2017/18 season and was still unused on the bench in the first five league games. In the sixth round of the championship, Le Guen used the actual defensive midfielder in the 1: 2 home defeat against Galatasaray Istanbul from the 62nd minute of play for the injured Barış Yardımcı as a right-back. After he had to sit on the bench without being used again in the following round, the Nigerian was no longer in the professional squad and was increasingly used in the second team of Bursaspor, the U-21 team. He made his competitive debut a few days before his professional league debut, when he played for about 30 minutes in the third round of the Turkish Football Cup 2017/18 against Tarsus İdman Yurdu ; in the next two cup games he was back on the bench without a bet. In the three other cup games in which his team took part before they were eliminated, Okoli was no longer part of the professional squad, which included his two compatriots Mikel Agu and William Troost-Ekong or, from January 2018, Abdullahi Shehu .

In February 2018 it became known that Paschal Okoli and his teammate Yusuf Abdullah Muhammed had been invited to a test training session at a football club from Bosnia and Herzegovina - which later turned out to be NK Čelik Zenica . Just over a week later, Okolis was announced on loan until June 30, 2018. After he was not eligible to play in the first few weeks after his engagement, he made his debut on March 11, 2018 in a 0-0 away draw against FK Borac Banja Luka , when he was used by Edin Prljača for the full 90 minutes in defensive midfield . In the following league games, the Nigerian became a regular player and completed the next six championship games in his traditional position in defensive midfield and as a right-back. On April 9, 2018, he scored his first goal in a professional league in a 4-0 away win over NK Vitez , when he headed a 3-0 lead in the 53rd minute after a cross from the veteran Stevo Nikolić . After he had to leave the pitch in the 18th minute on his seventh appearance in the Premijer Liga , the highest Bosnian-Herzegovinian football league, he was subsequently not used until the end of the season. His team rose as eleventh place in the first division in the second-rate Prva Liga FBiH .
