William Paul Troost-Ekong (born September 1, 1993 in Haarlem ) is a Dutch - Nigerian football player .
Career
society
The beginnings of Troost-Ekong's career are undocumented. As the first documented station he played for the youth division of SV Overbos . From here he moved to England and played successively for the youth teams of the clubs FC Bishop's Stortford , FC Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur . In the latter, he was included in the professional squad in 2011, but he did not appear in the league in two seasons.
In 2013 he returned to the Netherlands with his move to FC Groningen . Here he stayed in the team for only half a season and was loaned to the second division club FC Dordrecht for the next one and a half seasons . In 2015 he moved to KAA Gent in Belgium . Here, too, he did not make the leap into the regular formation and so he was loaned to the Norwegian club FK Haugesund for one and a half seasons .
In the 2017 summer transfer period, Troost-Ekong was transferred to the Turkish Süper Lig at Bursaspor .
National team
Troost-Ekong began his national team career in 2011 with an assignment for the Dutch U-19 national team . In 2013, two appearances for the Dutch U-20 national team followed
In 2016 Troost-Ekong decided to play for Nigeria and took part in the 2016 Olympic Games with the country's Olympic team. Here he and his team won bronze medals.
In June 2017 he made his debut for the Nigerian senior team . He was also part of Nigeria's squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Nigeria were eliminated in group stage third after losing to Croatia and Argentina and beating Iceland . Troost-Ekong played all three games.
