The Paso Iberoamericano is to gaited horses counting horse breed from Costa Rica . He combines the dressage talent and the stable foundation of the Iberian breeds Pura Raza Española or Lusitano with the natural tölt predisposition of the gaited horse breeds Paso Peruano , Paso Fino or Mangalarga Marchador to create a versatile, robust leisure and sport horse . The specialty of this breed is that it arises from the mating of two breeds according to the 3/8 - 5/8 model.
Exterior
- Head : dry, straight to slightly convex profile; large eyes, medium to long ears; flat broad forehead.
- Neck: set high with convex topline and straight underline, thick mane.
- Body: well proportioned; long shoulder with pronounced withers ; strong, slightly sloping croup ; deep tail.
- Feet and legs: well muscled, dry legs; hard hooves ; little droppings .

Movement sequence
Four-gaiter; all gaits energetic, rhythmic and expansive; talented in dressage
Breeding methodology
By pairing a Pura Raza Espanola or Lusitano with one of the gaited horse breeds, the F1 generation is created. This F1 generation is then back-crossed in a mating with a pure gaited horse. The result is the R1 generation. In the following breeding section this is paired with the F1 generation. The result is the end product Paso Iberoamericano, a 5/8 cross between gaited horse and Spanish horse that has 5/8 gaited horses and 3/8 Iberian blood.
