Passage de Choiseul is located between 36, rue des Petits-Champs and 23, rue Saint-Augustin, in a mixed residential and commercial area near the old national library and the Grands Boulevards . Quatre-Septembre is the nearest metro station on line 3 .

history
The Passage de Choiseul with a length of 200 meters was built in 1827 by the architect Antoine Tavernier , who worked on behalf of the Mallet bank. This had bought four Hôtels particuliers , which were demolished. Only the entrance to the Hôtel de Gesvres (built in 1655 by the architect Antoine Le Pautre ) was integrated into the construction of the passage as the entrance on Rue Saint-Augustin. The neighboring Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens , built in 1857, has an emergency exit to the passage. The passage is not distinguished by an interesting decor.
Current condition
The construction of the large department stores at the Paris Opera and at the Madeleine caused the decline of the Passagen and the Passage de Choiseul in the second half of the 19th century. After a brief boom in the 1970s, when the fashion designer Kenzo opened a boutique in the passage , the passage became more and more neglected. A future closure is more likely than a complete renovation, because the flow of customers moves away from this rather hidden passage.
