The Pastritz rises southeast of the Tharandt district of Großopitz am Opitzberg at about 340 meters above sea level . It flows with a steep gradient - initially to the southeast, then to the southwest - through the Pastritzgrund west of the Hirschberg into the valley of the Wild Weißeritz . It crosses under the State Road 194 Freital– Tharandt and the Dresden – Werdau railway line . Shortly afterwards the Pastritz flows into the Wilde Weißeritz at the boundary between Coßmannsdorf and Tharandt.

The Pastritzmühle Coßmannsdorf existed at the Pastritz until 1945 .
