Patrick Joseph "Pat" Garrity (born August 23, 1976 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) is a retired American basketball player who was active between 1998 and 2008 in the NBA .

Career

After Garrity had played four years for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish , he was selected in the 1998 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks in 19th place. On the same evening he was swapped with the ninth drafted Dirk Nowitzki for the sixth drafted Robert Traylor with the Dallas Mavericks .

The Mavericks gave Garrity shortly afterwards together with Bubba Wells , Martin Müürsepp and a future draft pick (with whom Shawn Marion was drawn in 1999 ) in exchange for Steve Nash to the Phoenix Suns .

Garrity only played one season with the Suns before he was swapped with Danny Manning and Draftpicks to the Orlando Magic for Penny Hardaway .

He played a total of nine years for Magic before he announced his retirement on September 11, 2008. In his ten-year career, Garrity scored 7.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.
