Patrice Prat (born November 28, 1965 in Bagnols-sur-Cèze ) is a French politician . He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2012 .

Prat studied in Nîmes and Montpellier and began his political career as a parliamentary assistant . He later became an advisor to the politician Alain Journet . When he was elected mayor of the municipality of Laudun-l'Ardoise , Prat, a member of the Parti socialiste, received his first political mandate. In 2004 he joined the General Council of the Gard department and in 2008 he became President of the Rhône-Cèze-Languedoc Municipal Association . In the 2012 elections , Prat, who is considered a confidante of top socialist politician Martine Aubry , ran in a more right-wing constituency. Nevertheless, he was able to prevail in the second ballot with 41.4%, as the previous Conservative MP Jean-Marc Roubaud (38.0%) and the right-wing extremist Gilles Caïtucoli (20.5%) together achieved more votes due to the lack of agreement on the right on a common candidate, however, failed. After his electoral success, Prat gave up his office as president of the municipal association and his mandate on the General Council.
