Patricia Karlin-Hayter

Patricia Karlin-Hayter (born July 1, 1920 in Trinidad , † April 19, 2014 in Anderlecht ) was a British Byzantine .

She moved with her family from Trinidad to the south of France, where her father had bought a chateau . She studied in France and England, but moved to Brussels after getting married . There she completed her studies with Henri Grégoire with a dissertation on the Vita Euthymii , a critical edition with commentary, part of which was published in 1957. The entire work did not appear until 1970.

A collection of articles appeared in 1981, and in the following decades she published numerous articles in the Byzantion magazine . These dealt mainly with the 9th century, with Theodor Studites , church organization and canon law and iconoclasm . She worked in the Bollandist library and considered herself an honorary member. By Margaret Mullet she was given the opportunity at times in Belfast to teach. She also participated in the Jesuit symposia in Birmingham .
