The Põhimaantee 3 (National Road 3) is a highway in Estonia .

The road leads from Jõhvi , where it branches off from Põhimaantee 1 ( European route 20 ), south to Lake Peipus and via Tartu (German: Dorpat; there junction with Põhimaantee 2 / European route 263 ), and on to the border town of Valga , also forms the Estonian part of the European route 264 . Its continuation in Latvia is the Latvian Autoceļš A3 highway via Valmiera to Inčukalns .

The length of the road is around 220 km.

history

During Estonia's membership of the Soviet Union, the road was designated A201.
