life and career

Patrick Mayer started playing football at SV Austria Salzburg and also played at BNZ Salzburg as a youth. In January 2002 he moved to FK Austria Wien to attend the Frank Stronach Academy in Hollabrunn . His stay in Vienna didn’t last long, however, as he ventured abroad in the summer of 2002 to play for Vitesse Arnheim . After three years in the Netherlands , he came back to Austria in 2005 for SCR Altach in the first division . A year later, he made promotion to the Bundesliga with the Vorarlberg team . After the end of his contract and relegation from the Bundesliga after the 2008/09 season , Mayer moved to the second division SV Grödig in the Regionalliga West. He was able to assert himself with the Grödigern straight away and with his 20 goals contributed more than just to the immediate return to the first division. In the following season he mostly had to be satisfied with the bench or even with the grandstand and moved to local rivals USK Anif in January 2011 . In the summer of 2011 he moved to league competitor SV Austria Salzburg . After half a year, he returned to USK Anif in January 2012. In the summer of 2012 he switched to league competitor TSV Neumarkt .
