Patrick Nair

Patrick Nair (born August 15, 1932 in Delhi ; † October 7, 2017 in Dehradun ) was an Indian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Meerut .

Life

Patrick Nair was ordained a priest on October 3, 1959 after his philosophical and theological training at the Saint Joseph Seminary in Mangalore and at the Pontifical Seminary in Pune . He was rector of the Minor Seminary in Sardhana, administrator of the Shrine of Our Lady of Graces and vicar general in Meerut and pastor in Tajpur.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on April 5, 1974 Bishop of Meerut. The Archbishop of Agra , Dominic Romuald Basil Athaide OFMCap , donated him episcopal ordination on October 2nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Baptist Mudartha , Bishop of Jhansi , and Cecil DeSa , Bishop of Lucknow . On December 3, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
