The Patscherkofelhaus (also Schutzhaus Patscherkofel ) is an Alpine Club refuge below the Patscherkofel summit south of Innsbruck . It is right next to the mountain station of the Patscherkofelbahn .
history
The first hut was built in 1887 as Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Schutzhaus by the Austrian Tourist Club , Innsbruck section. It was named in memory of Franz Joseph I's ascent of Patscherkofel in 1848.
Today's hut was mostly built around 1925. The two-storey building made of stone-faced masonry has a developed attic and a gable roof . A single-storey porch with two polygonal corner cores connects to the north. The single-storey extension with a sun terrace was added later.
The hut has been accessible with the Patscherkofelbahn since 1927. With the planned new construction of the railway in 2017, criticism was loud because the new mountain station is to be built south of the hut, 20 meters from the hut, in front of the terrace.
