Patzmannsdorf is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Stronsdorf in the Mistelbach district in Lower Austria .

geography

Patzmannsdorf is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria at an altitude of 220 m. Patzmannsdorf is a Langanger village with many hook yards or Zwerchhöfe. There are 215 houses and about 420 residents.

history

According to legend, a place that was called "Absdorf" or "Podorf" is said to have been here. This place is said to have died out twice and was later re-established by a Hungarian nobleman Michael Pazman (n). But there was no noble Michael Pazman (s) from Hungary in the High Middle Ages. This legend is evidently a result of a contamination of the Middle High German personal name Pazaman / Pezaman - the namesake of the place - and Péter Pázmány (Archbishop of Gran / Esztergom 1616–1637) known from the history of the Hungarian Counter-Reformation .

According to an inscription in the parish church, Martin Pazman re-established the church and parish in 1150. The Fronauer , one of the richest knight families in Lower Austria, were the rulers in the 14th and 15th centuries. After the Fronauer, ownership was a bit confused until the Sinzendorfer appeared as owners in the 18th century .

In the last days of the Second World War , between April 22nd and May 8th 1945, Patzmannsdorf became the scene of violent and changeable position battles between troops of the Wehrmacht and the Red Army , in which 10 civilians were killed and numerous buildings were destroyed or badly damaged.

politics

Patzmannsdorf provides the deputy mayor of the market town of Stronsdorf .

Tourism and attractions

Patzmannsdorf

In Patzmannsdorf there is a cellar village (the Trift) and two cellar lanes where wine from the vineyards can be bought and enjoyed (open cellar door). The Kellergasse am Schlossberg is on the Lower Austrian circular hiking trail. In addition to the many leisure activities (soccer field, beach volleyball court, ice skating / hockey field, playground, toboggan run), there are also many Marterl, wayside crosses and the wonderful landscape to explore - on foot, by bike or on horseback.

regional customs

The Pfingskönigssingen, whose origin can only be presumed, is one of the most important customs in Patzmannsdorf. A boy is adorned with branches of linden trees and three peonies on his head, and is led through the village. Boys and girls, drummers and collectors accompany him on the tour. The villagers give the children money that the actors share. In the end, the foliage is thrown into the stream. Also unique in Patzmannsdorf is the flag-carrying, which is carried out by the Ratscherkinder on the Sundays of Lent.

theatre

The youth put on one or two plays every year.
