Paul Joseph Fitzgibbon (* 21st March 1903 in Sioux Falls , South Dakota ; † 12. March 1975 in Long Beach, California ) Nickname : Red-Haired Flash was a US American football player . He played in the National Football League (NFL), including the Green Bay Packers .

Player career

Paul Fitzgibbon graduated from Creighton University . Together with the future professional footballer of the Chicago Cardinals Ike Mahoney , he played for their college football team . After graduating in 1925, he joined the Duluth Eskimos in 1926, a team from the NFL, and switched to the Frankford Yellow Jackets the following year . In 1928 he played with Mahoney for the Chicago Cardinals. From 1930 he ran for three years for the Green Bay Packers trained by Curly Lambeau . For the Green Bay team, Cal Hubbard , John McNally and Arnie Herber played three future members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame . The team won the NFL championship in 1930 with ten wins from 14 games. The title could be defended in the following year. After the 1932 season, Fitzgibbon ended his career.

After the playing career

Paul Fitzgibbon worked as a neurologist after his career , including at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance , California. He lived in Long Beach .
