Paul Friedrich Posenenske (born September 9, 1919 in Breslau ; † April 2004 ) was a German architect of functionalism .

Life

Kunsthochschule Kassel, workplace and Posenenske's work completed in 1962

Posenenske studied from 1936 to 1941 at the Technical University of Breslau and at the Technical University of Berlin and from 1945 worked at various Hessian state building authorities . There he mainly designed school buildings that are characterized by a very complex and difficult formal language for modern times. Artists were also involved in many buildings, for works of art as well as for the coloring. As head of the Offenbach State Building Office, he developed the concept of coreless school building.

The student dormitories in Frankfurt, on the other hand, were very puristic and followed the formal language introduced by Ferdinand Kramer at the University of Frankfurt. From 1958 Posenenske was a professor at the State University of Fine Arts in Kassel . In the same year he set up his own architectural offices in Offenbach am Main and Kassel.

Paul Friedrich Posenenske was married to the painter and sculptor Charlotte Posenenske . After his divorce, he married again and lived with his wife and three daughters in the Offenbach house. In 1987 he moved with his wife to Pottum in the Westerwald, where he worked and lived until his death.
