Jean Paul Höchstädter (* 27. August 1973 in Nuremberg ) is a German drummer of modern jazz .

Live and act

Höchstädter, who drummed enthusiastically as a child, received his own drum kit early on. He started teaching at the age of ten and soon played in numerous bands. At the age of fifteen he became enthusiastic about jazz after visiting Jazz East-West . He first studied at the Hermann Zilcher Conservatory in Würzburg with Billy Elgart , and then continued his studies with Holger Nell in Berlin until he graduated in 2000.

Höchstädter played in many big bands and combos even as a teenager, such as the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra under Harald Rüschenbaum and the Summit Jazz Orchestra . Later, during and after my studies with the RIAS Big Band , the NDR Big Band , the WDR Big Band and the SWR Big Band , the Concert Jazz Orchestra Vienna , Sunday Night Orchestra , the Bobby Burgess Big Band Explosion and the orchestras of Al Porcino and Thilo Wolf and Ed Partyka . Since January 2007 he has been a permanent drummer of the hr big band and has been involved in many productions (with Joe Lovano , Branford Marsalis , Jean Luc Ponty , Lionel Loueke , Patti Austin, among others ). Furthermore he belongs to the groups of Axel Schlosser , Windkraft 4 and Hubert Winter , with whom he also recorded. He also worked as a companion for Clark Terry , Jiggs Whigham , Bobby Shew , Till Brönner , James Morrison , Ack van Rooyen , Greetje Kauffeld and many more.
