From 1954 to 1987 Hoop was a teacher (most recently director of studies ) at the Rendsburger Gymnasium Herderschule, where he himself had been a student from 1936 to 1943. Seven Days Deadline for Schramm became a bestseller and was filmed in 1968 with Horst Tappert , Joachim Fuchsberger and Karin Hübner under the title Seven Days Deadline for the cinema. Impressions from Hoop's time as a local politician flowed into No Vote for Krüß ; In his own words, he drew an ironic self-portrait with the figure of the mayor. Other works of fiction focused on local history topics.
His main historical work is the history of the city of Rendsburg , which was followed by further regional historical studies.
