Paul Kim Ok-kyun

Paul Kim Ok-kyun , ko: 김옥균 바오로, (born December 9, 1925 in Yongin , South Korea , † March 1, 2010 ) was auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Seoul .

Life

Paul Kim Ok-kyun studied philosophy at Songsin College in Seoul and theology at Lille Catholic University . He received on 18 December 1954, the sacrament of the priesthood and studied from 1954 to 1959 Journalism in Lille. He was then head of the Catholic House in Seoul and secretary to the Archbishop of Seoul, from 1962 Chancellor of the Archdiocese. After pastoral activities from 1965 to 1982 he was again Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Seoul.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Girba in 1985 and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Seoul . The episcopal ordination donated him on April 25, 1985 Stephen Cardinal Kim Sou-hwan , Archbishop of Seoul; Co - consecrators were Victorinus Youn Kong-hi , Archbishop of Kwangju, and Joseph Kyeong Kap-ryong , Bishop of Daejeon. From 1985 to 2001 he was also Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Seoul.

Paul Kim was a member of the Commission for Social Issues of the Bishops' Conference in South Korea (1985 to 2001), permanent member of the Council of the CBCK (1987 to 1999), President of the Commission on the Lay Apostolate of the CBCK (1994-2001), President of the Commission for the Communication of the CBCK (1990 to 1999) and Chairman of the Episcopal Commission for Mission (1997 to 1999). In 1993 he became an advisor to the Bishops' Conference for the Reunification of Korea.

In 2001, Pope John Paul II granted his age-related resignation.
