Paul Neuenborn

Paul Neuenborn (born February 2, 1866 in Stolberg (Rhineland) , † May 31, 1913 in Munich ) was a German animal painter and illustrator .

Paul Neuenborn attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1884 to 1889 . There he was a student of Peter Janssen , Adolf Schill and Eduard von Gebhardt . In Düsseldorf he became a member of the art student association Tartarus with the pub name or alias "Lazarus". He also belonged to the Düsseldorf artists' association Malkasten . Neuenborn had been active in Munich since 1896. There he was taught the art school of Friedrich Fehr , also at Fritz von Uhde . He made study trips to Paris and Belgium with his friend, the painter Adelbert Niemeyer , who had moved to Munich alongside Robert Engels , Willy von Beckerath and himself. Another close friend was Carl Strathmann , with whom he roamed the bohemian Munich . One focus of Neuenborn's work was numerous book illustrations on travel reports and books on topics related to the animal world. In 1905 he designed the poster for the exhibition The Animal in Art for the Munich Art Association . In 1915, the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf exhibited the artistic estate of Neuenborn .

Paul Pfann designed his tombstone in the Waldfriedhof (Munich) .
