Paul Petersen (born September 23, 1945 in Glendale , California ) is an American actor .

Life

Paul Petersen was introduced to the theater business by his stage-loving mother in the 1950s. In addition to his work on the stage, he was used in some movies, for example in Houseboat as the son of Cary Grant . Petersen also worked for television. He played one of the musketeers in the Disney production The Mickey Mouse Club . Walt Disney personally fired him for bad behavior (Petersen hit the director for calling him "mouse" too often). At age 12, he was appointed as Jeff Stone in Donna Reed's sitcom The Donna Reed (The Donna Reed Show) famous. The good-looking guy was popular with the public, and fan clubs quickly formed. Since his sister series Shelley Fabares landed a hit with the song Johnny Angel , Paul also began to record some songs. However, his recordings were not very successful.

The sitcom was discontinued in 1966. The Vietnam War also affected the film industry. A serious young man with the charisma of the “nice boy next door” now had a hard time. People only identified Paul as Jeff Stone. For him there were only minor supporting roles in film and television.

In this depressing and hopeless situation, Paul remembered his colleague Mickey Rooney . Like this former child star, he went to college to study English and history. Petersen also wrote adventure novels (16 in total). He ran a limousine service for 10 years. Arguably his greatest achievement is the founding of A Minor Consideration in 1991, a non-profit organization to support children who work in show business as well as adult ex-child stars in need of financial and emotional help. Petersen is committed to better training and adherence to a 40-hour week. Meanwhile, Paul's work has made great and profound changes in Hollywood .

For the UN , he was an envoy for the WSO, the World Safety Organization , and represented 300,000 film workers as Vice President of the Hollywood Entertainment Labor Council . He is also a board member of the Donna Reed Foundation and contributes to the Donna Reed Festiva in Denison , Iowa .

For his work as a child actor on the Donna Reed Show , Paul Petersen received the Young Artist Award .
