Paul Reimers (lawyer)
Paul Reimers (born February 14, 1902 , † November 5, 1984 in Bremen ) was a German lawyer and judge at the People's Court . Reimers and Hans-Joachim Rehse were the only judges at the People's Court against whom charges were brought after the end of the Nazi regime.
Life
As the son of a well builder, he studied law. At the University of Marburg he obtained in 1925 the doctorate to the Dr. jur. on the subject of the metaphysical element of the legal thought and the psychological root of the judgment - a preliminary study for Jung's doctrine of justice in positivity .
On May 1, 1933 , he became a member of the NSDAP with membership number 2,817,533. His career as a judge began in 1934 at the Berlin Regional Court . Six years later he was transferred to a special court in Berlin. From May 27, 1943 to January 26, 1945 he was a member of various senates at the People's Court.
After the end of the war he continued his judicial activity, from 1955 in Hechingen again in the field of criminal law. He later came to the Ravensburg Regional Court as a regional judge , where he retired in 1963 . In 1960, the Stuttgart attorney general, Erich Nellmann, rejected an indictment against Reimers at the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court by discontinuing an investigation because he believed Reimers to be innocent.
On September 6, 1984, the Berlin Regional Court admitted the indictment against Reimers for the executed death sentences in 97 cases, which he is said to have brought about partly as an assistant judge and partly as chairman of the Senate of the People's Court for low motives in independent litigation with others. The present indictment was 866 pages long as the result of 15 years of investigation.
In order to avoid a lawsuit, Reimers had a doctor in Bremen issue a certificate of incapacity for proceedings. Until recently he showed no remorse towards the public because of the way he worked as a judge in the Nazi regime. He hanged himself on November 5, 1984 in Bremen.
