Paul Wilhelm (born November 25, 1935 in Munich ; † November 25, 2008 ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CSU ). He was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament and Bavarian State Secretary.

Life

After graduating from the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich , Wilhelm studied law from 1954. In 1964 he was at Theodor Maunz at the University of Munich with a thesis on The Bavarian Senate after the 1946 Constitution Dr. jur. PhD . In parallel to his studies, he entered the then State Office for Shorthand as a candidate in 1955 to train as a parliamentary stenographer. He worked in this profession until 1970.

From 1970 to 2003 he was a member of the CSU for the constituency of Munich-Southwest in the Bavarian state parliament. As State Secretary of the Bavarian State Government, he worked in the field of federal and European affairs from 1990 to 1993. He headed the Committee for Universities, Research and Culture as chairman from 1994 to 2003.

In 2003 he received the Ohm Medal from the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg . In 2002 he was made an honorary senator of the Technical University of Munich and in 2004 of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg . The Bavarian Minister of Finance Kurt Faltlhauser awarded him the Ludwig I. Medal in 2004 because he had earned services to the Bavarian lakes, gardens and castles.

He died on November 25, 2008 on his 73rd birthday after a serious illness.

His son Ulrich is the director of Bayerischer Rundfunk.
