Paul Winiker (born April 13, 1956 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ). On July 1, 2015 Winiker was elected to the Government Council of the Canton of Lucerne ; re-election followed in May 2019.

Life

Winiker grew up in Lucerne and attended the commercial high school at the canton school Alpenquai . He then studied economics at the University of Zurich with a degree in business administration. He then worked for several years as an auditor in international companies at home and abroad (including the Sandoz Group, now Novartis) and as a controller for an international trading group, later as its chief financial officer. From 1991 to 2002 Winiker was managing director in the telecommunications industry ( Fischer Group ), head of networks and marketing (Cablecom GmbH) and partner at the cable television company GrischaVision. Between 2002 and 2012 he was a business consultant and board member. a. at Les Grands Chais Suisse SA, Gmür & Cie AG. Until 2013 Winiker served as a militia officer in the Swiss army , most recently with the rank of lieutenant colonel . In this role he was chief communications officer of the 5th Infantry Brigade.

From 2007 to 2015 Winiker was representing the SVP member of the municipal council of Kriens and headed in that capacity for the finance department. Between 2012 and 2015 he was mayor of the Kriens council. At the cantonal level, he was a member of the Lucerne Cantonal Council from 2007 to 2015 and was a member of the Finance and Planning Commission.

In 2015 Winiker was elected to the Lucerne Government Council, where he took over the Justice and Security Department. On May 19, 2019, Winiker was re-elected to the government in the second ballot .

Winiker is married, lives in Kriens and has two children.
