J. Dennis Washington

John Dennis Washington (born June 23, 1945 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American film architect .

Life

Washington had already started studying architecture when he went to the MGM production company , where he was hired as a film set designer . He worked for this studio for three years before he went into business for himself and for the first time - albeit unnamed - was allowed to participate in the design of the film structures in the drama The Day of the Locust .

In 1977 the Californian began his work as a simple architect (art director), in John Huston's war, breakout and escape drama Escape or Victory , Washington made his debut in 1980 as the sole responsible chief architect (production designer). For the last two productions by this master director, Die Ehre der Prizzis and Die Toten , Washington also provided the scenography look. From then on, he designed the buildings for a number of conventional, but sometimes quite exciting, entertainment films, including highly budgeted, action-packed A-productions such as Auf der Flucht , Das Netz and Dante's Peak .
