Paula Cooper Gallery
The Paula Cooper Gallery is an art gallery in New York City , New York , which was founded in 1968 . Paula Cooper previously directed the Park Place Gallery after John Gibson . This became the center of attention for the downtown Manhattan art scene.
The gallery is primarily known for helping great minimalists and conceptual artists launch their careers. These include: Carl Andre , Jennifer Bartlett , Lynda Benglis , Rudolf Stingel , Mark di Suvero , Donald Judd , Sol LeWitt , Kelley Walker , Joel Shapiro , Elizabeth Murray and Cady Noland . In the beginning, mutual respect, a feeling of togetherness and a passion for art were the connecting elements for the relationship between gallery owner and artist.
