Rudolf Stingel

Rudolf Stingel (* 1956 in Meran ) is a conceptual painter who lives in New York and comes from South Tyrol .

Life

Stingel grew up in an entrepreneurial family in Partschins that manufactures building materials in the Vinschgau Valley . After training attempts at traditional educational institutions such as the humanistic Beda-Weber-Gymnasium in Meran and the art school in Val Gardena and after compulsory military service with the Alpini , he went to Milan as an autodidact via Vienna in 1980 , where he began to work seriously as an artist, and a first Exhibition organized. In 1987 he went to New York and came under the wing of the Paula Cooper Gallery .

Stingel lives in New York and has other places of residence in Mexico and Meran.
