Francesco Bonami

Bonami (Florence, 2015)

Francesco Bonami (* 1955 in Florence ) is an Italian art critic and curator who is an American citizen.

Life

Bonami studied art history and scenography at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Florence . After a brief period as an artist, Bonami moved to New York City in the early 1990s . There he started working with the Flash Art magazine . At the same time he worked as a curator, for example for the Truce exhibition at the SITE Museum in Santa Fe , New Mexico, in 1998, followed by Exhibiting Painting at the Whitechapel Art Gallery , London in 1999 and an exhibition at Manifesta 3 in Ljubljana in 2001 Slovenia.
