Paula Moltzan comes from Lakeville , Minnesota , where she learned to ski early on on Buck Hill.
At the age of 16, Moltzan moved with her father to Vail , Colorado , and became a member of the local ski association. The following year she was accepted into the US ski team. After making her debut in the Nor-Am Cup at the age of 15, she gradually managed to improve in the following winters. She ended the 2014/15 season after three wins in third place overall. She took second place in the slalom classification. In March of the same year she won the slalom gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Hafjell .
Moltzan made her World Cup debut on November 25, 2012 in the Aspen slalom . After that she started more or less regularly in World Cup slaloms, but was unable to qualify for the second round for a long time. She achieved her best result at this level at the World Championships in Vail / Beaver Creek 2015, where she finished 20th in slalom. She won her first World Cup points on January 12th, 2016 when she finished 25th in the Flachau slalom . After two winters with sporadic World Cup appearances, she made a small breakthrough in the 2018/19 season when she finished 17th, 15th and 12th in the slaloms of Killington , Courchevel and Flachau.
