Pavel Suchánek (born May 23, 1985 in Jablonec nad Nisou ) is a Czech biathlete .

Pavel Suchánek is a student. He lives and trains in Horní Maxov and starts for the SKP Jymbolx Jablonec nad Nisou . He is trained by Petr Graclík. He started biathlon in 2000 and has been a member of the Czech national team since 2001. In 2002 he took part in his first Junior World Championships in Ridnaun , the best result was a 39th place in the individual. In 2003 he started for the second time at the Junior World Championships in Kościelisko , where a 15th place was the best result. His third Junior World Championship was the 2004 championships in Haute-Maurienne with a 25th place in the pursuit race as the best result. In 2005 he took part in the Junior European Championship for the first time in addition to the Junior World Championships. At the European Championships in Novosibirsk he was 12th of the sprint and just missed a medal in fourth place in the relay. At the World Championships in Kontiolahti , the sprint was also the best individual result, in which Suchánek was 30th, and he was fifth in the relay race. The last time he took part in a Junior World Championship was in Presque Isle in 2006 . In the sprint he reached 22nd place, was 24th in the pursuit and eighth in the relay. The second and final European Junior Championships were the continental title fights in Langdorf , which brought an 18th place in the individual as the best result. The Czech finished fifth in the season. The last major event was the junior competitions of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2006 in Ufa . In the cross-country sprint he came in 24th place and improved to 20th place in the pursuit. On roller skis , he finished eighth in both the sprint and the pursuit race and was fourth in the mixed relay. Between 2002 and 2006 he repeatedly took part in races in the Biathlon European Cup for Juniors, without ever finishing in the top 15.

Suchánek made his debut in 2006 in Obertilliach in the European Cup for men in the performance area and reached 69th place in his first sprint race. He won his first points as 30th at the start of the 2008/09 season in Idre . In the season he also achieved his first single-digit result as fifth-placed individual in Langdorf and his best result to date in the IBU Cup. Suchánek celebrated his greatest international success at the Summer Biathlon European Championships 2007 in Tyssowez , where he secured the bronze medal for the Czech Republic as the final runner with Pavla Matyášová , Michaela Balatková and Luboš Schorný in the mixed relay race.
