List of European champions in summer biathlon
The list of European champions in summer biathlon includes all medal winners of the European championships in summer biathlon since the competition was first held in 2004. First, in addition to a competition in the mixed relay, competitions in sprint and pursuit were carried out. As early as 2005, the pursuit was removed from the program in favor of the mass start, in order to replace the mass start again in 2010. Like the pursuit, the mass start was also based on the sprint, as the 30 best starters qualify for the follow-up competition there.
So far, Russia is by far the most successful nation. In mixed, the Russians won all but one competition. Likewise, the Russian men had to admit defeat to athletes from other nations only three times in 18 individual races. In the women's category, the Russians have won 12 of the 18 titles so far. Russian athletes won 35 of 45 possible titles. Four titles were won by Ukrainians, two each by Czechs and Slovaks and one each by an Uzbek and a Belarusian. Russian athletes won 79 out of 135 medals and thus 79 out of 117 possible medals. That corresponds to about two thirds of the medals. Behind them follows by a long way the Czech Republic, whose athlete won 15 medals ahead of Ukraine with 13 and Slovakia with nine. Germany is in fifth place with 13 medals and the title of Judith Wagner .
