Luboš Schorný from St. Město p. L. first took part in a major international event at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2000 in Khanty-Mansiysk and was 29th in the sprint, 19th in the pursuit and fifth with the relay. Three years later in Forni Avoltri , the Czech was able to achieve similar results with 17th places in the sprint and pursuit, 19th place in the mass start and fifth place in the relay. In 2004 Schorný was able to run into the top ten for the first time as tenth in the mass start. 15th in the sprint and 21st in the pursuit. He narrowly missed a medal in the relay race together with Petr Garabík , Jaroslav Soukup and Zdeněk Vítek in fourth place. The 2007 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Otepää were less successful , where he was 28th in the sprint and 23rd in the pursuit. Schorný achieved far better results at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2008 in Haute-Maurienne , where he achieved single-digit results for the first time as eighth in the sprint and fifth in the pursuit. The 2009 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof, Germany, were again less successful for the Czech . Schorný finished 23rd in the sprint and 20th in the pursuit race.
