Summer biathlon European championships

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Biathlon Union (IBU) has been holding regular summer biathlon European championships since 2004 . They run on roller skis . The summer biathlon European championships are held every year in late summer.

Competitions

First, in addition to a competition in the mixed relay, competitions in sprint and pursuit were carried out. As early as 2005, the pursuit was removed from the program in favor of the mass start. Like the pursuit, the mass start is also based on the sprint, as the 30 best starters qualify for the follow-up competition there.

So far, the representatives of Russia are by far the most successful nation. In mixed, the Russians won all but one competition. Likewise, the Russian men first had to admit defeat to a Uzbek and twice a Slovak. In the women's category, one Ukrainian and one Belarusian have each won a title once. In 2013, Judith Wagner became a German European champion in summer biathlon for the first time . After she won the bronze medal in the sprint in 2012 .

Previous European championships

To date, a total of eight European Summer Biathlon Championships have been held. Eight European champions were determined in the sprint, three in the pursuit and five in the mass start.
