Career

Beligratis played his first international tournament in 2000 with Dimitrios Kelepouris at the Macau Open and finished 49th. In the other open tournaments the duo did not get any top placements this year either. In 2001 Beligratis played with Thanassis Chatziantoniou , but remained unsuccessful on the World Tour. Only at the Challenger tournament in Xylokastro did the duo achieve a top ten result in ninth place. At the Vitória Open at the end of the year, Beligratis competed for the first time with his new partner Thanassis Michalopoulos . The two Greeks finished 17th in the first tournament in Berlin in 2002 . They later completed their first Grand Slams in Marseille and Klagenfurt . At the European Championships in Basel they were eliminated early with two defeats against the Russians Karassew / Saizew and the Norwegians Horrem / Maaseide . On the World Tour 2003 two 25th places in Rhodes and Mallorca were her best results. At the EM 2003 in Alanya , Beligratis / Michalopoulos had to say goodbye as group bottom in the preliminary round with 0: 6 sets. The same result was achieved at the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro . At the Open tournaments in 2004 they achieved 33rd place in Espinho and 41st place four times. As the host's team, they qualified for the Olympic tournament in Beligratis' hometown of Athens. The first group game against the South Africans Rorich / Pocock they only lost in the tiebreak; then followed a 0: 2 against the Portuguese Maia / Brenha . Before the last group game against the Argentine duo Baracetti / Conde , they had to give up due to a leg injury that Beligratis had already suffered in the first duel and were eliminated from the bottom of the group. In 2005, Beligratis still played three open tournaments with Georgios Koulieris ; the best result was 41st place in Gstaad .
