The young lawyer Ramesh Kumar moves into his new rented apartment in Lucknow . Old Digambarnath lives on the first floor with his pretty daughter Shanti. However, there is a dispute on the first day. The result: Digambarnath moves out and Ramesh is kicked out by the landlord.

Finally, Ramesh is looking for a new place to stay and learns that Dibambarnath is now renting a room in his new apartment himself. For Ramesh it is the opportunity to get to Shanti, with whom he fell in love. He disguises himself as the pensioner Mirza and gets the room. With skill and charisma, Shanti succumbs to Ramesh's charm and also falls in love with him.

The problems are not long in coming: Shanti's sister Uma shows up with her alcoholic husband Prakash, who is only after the family's money. The ruthless alcoholic even drives Digambarnath into the and is now looking for a new source of money that quickly leads him to Shanti's neighbor Chanchal. Chanchal is married to Dayal, a wealthy and busy lawyer, but her heart beats for Ramesh. Prakash skilfully threads his way into the situation and blackmailed Chanchal.

Chanchal can't hide her affection for Ramesh for a long time when Dayal watches her with Ramesh at a New Year's Eve party. Dayal immediately changes his will and confronts Chanchal. Dayal is unfortunately killed during their boat trip. Prakash, who is responsible for this death, takes the will and continues to blackmail Chanchal. This time he is caught by Shanti, who then runs away. There is turbulence when Prakash lies dead on the ground and Shanti, startled, holds the weapon in his hand.

In court, Ramesh Shanti is acquitted when he can prove that Chanchal was the one who killed Prakash. Finally nothing stands in the way of the young happiness, so that Shanti and Ramesh can make the bond of marriage.
