Nasir Hussain (born February 3, 1931 in Bhopal , † March 19, 2002 in Mumbai ) was an Indian film director and producer of Hindi films .

Life

Nasir Hussain started as a screenwriter for the film company Filmistan and was among other things the author of the Subodh Mukherjee films Munimji (1955) and Paying Guest (1957). He made his directorial debut in 1957 with Tumsa Nahin Dekha , Shammi Kapoor's first film success . After he shot a slightly modified version of his debut film for Filmalaya with Dil Deke Dekho , he founded his own film company "Nasir Hussain Films" in 1960. He specialized in romantic movies , including Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai (1961) with Dev Anand and Asha Parekh and Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973) with Dharmendra and Zeenat Aman .

Around 1980 Hussain made three films in Bhojpuri . In the middle of the decade he retired from directing. In 1988 he was successful with his production Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and received a Filmfare Award for best film. Nasir Hussain's son Mansoor Khan directed the film and his nephew Aamir Khan began his career with it. He repeated the success with both with Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1993).
