Pe ( Persian په) is a letter of the Persian alphabet that does not belong to the Arabic alphabet . It was added by the Persians to the spelling of the "P" sound, which is missing in standard Arabic . In the same function, the Pe also belonged to the Ottoman-Turkish alphabet used in Turkish until 1928 (see Ottoman language ). The Pe can still be found today in several extended Arabic alphabets, such as those of Urdu and Pashto . The basic form of the Pe corresponds to the Arabic letter , but is written with three points instead of just one. The Pe has no numerical value.

The Pe is also used in some Arabic lexicons, atlases, etc. to correctly reproduce the P sound in foreign proper names.
