Ve , in Jawi Pa , is an Arabic letter that is used in several extended Arabic alphabets , including Sorani Kurdish and the Jawi alphabet of the Malay language . The letter is derived from the Arabic letter Fa (ف) by adding two more points.

Pronunciation [v]

Its sound value in Arabic and Kurdish is a voiced labiodental fricative ( IPA : [v]). Although the letter and its sound value do not appear in the basic Arabic alphabet, it is occasionally used in Arabic to transcribe foreign-language proper names.

Pronunciation [p]

In the Jawi script for Malay , the same sign represents a different voiceless bilabial plosive (IPA: [p]). In Arabic, on the other hand, the writing of the p-sound in foreign words uses a modification of the letter Ba (ب) is used, with three points instead of one under the basic morpheme, i.e. پ.

Pronunciation [g]

The same basic morpheme as the letter ف has the letter Qāf at the beginning and in the middle position (ق, voiceless uvular plosive q ) with two points. For this reason, the same symbol with the three dots is often used in Maghrebian Arabic for the velar voiced plosive g , as is the case with the Tunisian beverage brand "Boga"بوڤا.
