Pedro Boese (* 1972 in Beira ) is a German - Portuguese abstract painter .

life and work

Pedro Boese was born in Beira , Mozambique . From 1993 to 1997 he studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts Maastricht (ABKM) in the Netherlands. From 1998 to 2001 he studied at the Institute for Art in Context and from 2000 was a guest student with Lothar Baumgarten at the UdK Berlin for two years .

Boese is a member of the German Association of Artists . He lives and works in Berlin.

The circle and the rectangle have a special meaning in his pictures. Again and again he examines the possibilities of these central forms. While early works emerged exclusively from the superimposition of the glazed circles in the image plane, from around 2006 the image structure follows a grid-like system. This increasingly strict gesture is canceled out in new works by partially erosive processing.
