Ciruelo published a treatise on practical arithmetic as early as 1495 , the Arithmetice practice seu Algorismi Tractatus . Shortly thereafter, in the years up to 1498, he presented revised versions of textbooks by other authors , namely a revision of the Arithmetica speculativa and the Geometria speculativa by Thomas Bradwardine and then one of the Sphaera mundi written by Johannes de Sacro Bosco (and others) .

Building on works by various predecessors - such as the textbook De institutione arithmetica written by Boethius - Ciruelo dealt in detail with the Quadrivium of the Seven Liberal Arts in the Cursus quattuor mathematicarum artium liberalium published in 1516 . This font is characterized by numerous historical annotations and is also noteworthy insofar as Ciruelo used new names for the certain powers of ten , which differ from the usual names that have become common through the work of Nicolas Chuquet . He described namely as a cuento and as millon .
