Peer Boysen

Peer Boysen (* 1957 in Bochum ) is a German director and set designer .

Life

Peer Boysen, son of the actor Rolf Boysen and Marianne, b. Thoennes, grew up in Munich and Hamburg. In 1980 he began his artistic work as a stage design assistant in Nuremberg, at the Residenztheater in Munich and at the Munich Kammerspiele . Four years later he became a permanent set designer at the State Theater in Mainz . From 1987 Boysen worked as a freelance set designer, a. a. in Ulm, Stuttgart, Giessen, Kaiserslautern, Hanover, Munich and Vienna.

In 1990 he made his debut as a director with The Son of Chao by Ad de Bont at the Schauburg in Munich. One focus of his work is the staging of baroque music theater, often in collaboration with the conductor Michael Hofstetter . Boysen also writes libretti and his own pieces, such as Sneewitte , Orfeus and Ein Theater nach der Mode together with Kobie van Rensburg , Die Regentrude , the 3-part Prince Eisenherz and Der Fliegende Holländer .

Boysen has lived in Santiago de Chile since 2005 .

From 2012 to 2017 he was a university lecturer at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

His brother is the actor Markus Boysen .
