criticism

In July 2013, members of the China Labor Watch exposed serious labor law violations at Pegatron. Undercover investigations in three factories that manufacture electronics for Apple found that workers had to work 66 to 69 hours a week and were not paid for overtime. In addition, the company uses minors on the production lines and is responsible for a large part of the pollution in China. After interviews with more than 200 Pegatron employees, the chairman of China Labor Watch said that the conditions in the factories were even worse than at Foxconn , another contract manufacturer for Apple, which had previously come under fire several times for poor working conditions.

In December 2014, a BBC documentary revealed poor working conditions and the mistreatment of employees in a Pegatron factory in Shanghai . In the factory that produced the iPhone 6 for Apple at the time , it was recorded that employees were sometimes forced to work 18 days at a time and in shifts of up to 16 hours. In addition, unsatisfactory conditions in the residential complex on the company premises were discovered, where twelve workers had to share a small room.
