Pellegrino Tomaso Ronchi OFMCap (born January 19, 1930 in Riolo Terme , Italy ; † October 24, 2018 in Perugia ) was an Italian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Città di Castello .

Life

Pellegrino Tomaso Ronchi joined the religious order of the Capuchin in and received on 21 March 1953 in Faenza, the ordination . He studied canon law as an alumne at the Collegio internazionale di Roma at the Pontifical Urban University , where he graduated as a propaganda fide priest in 1956.

He was a professor and Regens at the religious college of the Capuchins in Bologna. In 1960 he became a missionary, secretary and chancellor of the bishop in Lucknow , India. After the death of Bishop Corrado De Vito, he was chief vicar of the diocese. In 1972 he returned to Italy and was called by the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples to be Rector of the College of Propaganda Fide.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Porto e Santa Rufina on December 7, 1984 . The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on January 6 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Eduardo Martínez Somalo , substitute for the State Secretariat , and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples .

He resigned from his office for health reasons on November 9, 1985 and retired to the monastery of San Giuseppe in Bologna. On February 7, 1991, he was appointed Bishop of Città di Castello by John Paul II and was introduced to the office on March 9 of the same year. On June 16, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
