The Pennälertag is to annually Pentecost held association meetings of the middle school students Cartel Association (MKV) - the Association of Catholic Students connections in Austria . The name is derived from Pennäler , an old word for middle school students (high school students).

The Allgemeine Pennäler-Ring (APR) in Germany has also been holding regular Pennäler days since 1990.

Process of the Pennälertage of the MKV

Since 1946 the connections of the MKV from all over Austria and numerous connections from other associations and nations have been meeting in an Austrian city that changes from year to year. The "typical" process of a schoolboy day has established itself over the last few years and decades as follows:

  • Friday: Cartel Council, reception of the Cartel Council members at the respective governor , arrival of the other participants
  • Saturday: Morning parallel activity day and Philistine day , afternoon cartel meeting, evening various celebrations of individual regional associations
  • Sunday: Charging rehearsals in the morning, parade and mass in the afternoon, Pennal's Day summer in the evening, followed by the end
  • Monday: departure of the participants

With meetings of the four highest bodies of the association (Cartel Council, Active Day, Philistine Day and Cartel Assembly), Pennälertag fulfills organizational purposes.

Conflicts

Again and again there are smaller demonstrations against Pennälertag. However, there have never been any serious protests: For example, at the most famous demonstration of the last few years on Pennälertag 2004 in Baden , during which several groups protested (e.g. Volxtheaterkarawane , anti-fascist left, etc.), only - according to the organizers - 40 to 60 protesters. There were no physical attacks on the part of the protesters.
