The Pearl (S606) is a tactical nuclear submarine for the French Navy . The name goes back to a sapphire class submarine used in World War II and means pearl . Perle (S606) is the sixth and last built submarine of the Rubis class .

Together with the Améthyste (S605) , the submarine was a further development of the Rubis class and is therefore referred to in various sources as the Améthyste class .

On June 12, 2020, a fire broke out on board during an overhaul in a dry dock in Toulon . No radioactive material is said to have leaked and nobody was injured.
