Plague column (Ismaning)
The Ismaninger plague column (also stone column ) is a listed hourly column in the municipality of Ismaning ( Upper Bavaria ), on Münchener Straße (towards Unterföhring).
It was built in 1818 by Eugène de Beauharnais , Duke of Leuchtenberg , the owner of the castle in Ismaning at the time, on the connecting road to Munich , today's State Road 2053.
The original stone column was later supplemented with a wrought iron cross and a Madonna figure . The following inscription is placed on the cross:
- I live and don't know how long.
- I am dying and I don't know when.
- I'm driving and don't know where to go
- I'm just surprised that I'm so happy.
- Dying has a hard rice '.
- because you don't know the way.
- This is how one calls on Mary, Joseph and Jesus.
- so that one can find the right way.
