Petar Đorđić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Петар Ђорђић ; born September 17, 1990 in Šabac ) is a Serbian handball player . The right-hander plays for the Portuguese first division club Benfica Lisbon in the left back space .

Career

In his youth, Petar Đorđić played up to the B-youth at SG Wallau / Massenheim and most recently at HSG Hochheim / Wicker, then he switched to TV Kirchzell . There he was used both in the regional league team and in the A-youth . In January 2008 Đorđić, who was regarded as one of the greatest talents in German handball, was courted by both TV Großwallstadt and HSG Wetzlar . Đorđić decided to move to HSG Wetzlar, as he saw better development opportunities for himself there. In addition, his father Zoran Đorđić played there in goal. On February 1, 2010, he moved on to SG Flensburg-Handewitt . He won the European Cup Winners' Cup with Flensburg in 2012 . In summer 2013 he moved to HSV Hamburg, from which he returned to Flensburg for the 2015/16 season. From the summer of 2017 he was under contract with the Belarusian club Brest GK Meschkow . With Brest GK Meschkow he won the Belarusian championship in 2018 and 2019 and the Belarusian cup in 2018. In the summer of 2019 he moved to the Portuguese first division club Benfica Lisbon .

Petar Đorđić was in the provisional squad of the Serbian national team for the 2011 World Cup ; until December 2010 he played eight international matches , in which he threw 22 goals. Then he decided to play for the German men's national handball team , but is still waiting for naturalization.

Others

On April 2, 2008, Petar Đorđić and his father Zoran Đorđić created a novelty in the history of the German handball Bundesliga at the HSG Wetzlar game against the Rhein-Neckar Löwen : for the first time, father and son were on the pitch together in one team.
