Aalborg Municipality was until December 2006 a Danish municipality in what was then Nordjyllands Amt in northern Jutland . Since January 2007 it has been part of the new Aalborg municipality together with the municipalities of Nibe , Hals and Sejlflod .

Aalborg municipality arose in the course of administrative reform in 1970 by combining the cities of Aalborg and Nørresundby with the villages Ellidshøj-Svenstrup , Ferslev-Dall Volsted , Gunderup-Nøvling , Hasseris , Horsens Hammer , Nørholm , Romdrup-Klarup , Sønderholm-Frejlev and Sønder Tranders , as well as most of the rural community Sulsted-Ajstrup and a smaller part of the rural community Øster Hornum .
